AST – Soluções e Serviços de Ambiente, Lda. is pleased to announce the launch of the NUTRILIX project – Technological advances in nutrient recovery and treatment of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in landfill leachate, in co-promotion with WEDOTECH and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). The project is co-financed by the NORTE 2030 programme.
The NUTRILIX project presents a groundbreaking approach to the valorisation of landfill leachate, focusing on the recovery of strategic nutrients such as ammonia and sulphur, and on the treatment of emerging PFAS contaminants—also known as “forever chemicals” due to their high environmental persistence.
Through the development and testing of innovative technologies, the project aims to maximise the efficiency of conventional reverse osmosis (RO) systems used in leachate treatment, transforming complex waste streams into valuable resources with industrial and agricultural applications.
NUTRILIX represents more than a technical breakthrough: it is a strategic step for AST in leading circular economy solutions, strengthening its competitiveness and international presence with sustainable, innovative proposals aligned with the European Green Deal.
